Weenta Girmay is an Eritrean-American documentary film producer based in New Orleans. She owns and operates Weenta Productions, a full service video production company.
Weenta also provides project management and grant review for non-profit filmmaking institutions. She most recently served as the Program Manager for the New Orleans Film Society’s South Pitch 2021.
Her past work as a producer has been supported by Tribeca Film Institute, featured on NPR and selected to screen at the New Orleans Film Festival. In 2019 and 2021, she was chosen as a Southern Producer’s Lab Fellow as supported by the New Orleans Film Society.
She’s most excited to tell women-centered stories and collaborate with other female and/or gender non-conforming filmmakers.
